The events at #berkeley Wed night have been a boon to #milosyiannopoulos of #breitbartnews & to #stevebannon former head of Breitbart News & now #trumps consigliere.
As you may recall, Berkeley gave Yiannopoulos a major forum to spout his #racist & #misogynistic vitriol – but police had to cancel his talk just before because about 150 masked agitators threw Molotov cocktails, smashed windows where Yiannopoulos was scheduled to speak & threw rocks & fireworks at the police - delivering made-for-TV images of a #riot.

According to a promotional Breitbart story that ran before the event, Yiannopoulos was set to “call for the withdrawal of #federalgrants & the prosecution of uni officials who endanger their students w/their policies.” Which is exactly what Trump did via tweet early the next morning: “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech & practices violence on innocent people w/a different point of view — NO FED FUNDS?” Thursday night, Yiannopoulos had a friendly intv on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” - a show that, according to the Washington Post, has ridden anger at left-wing activism into best-in-class prime time ratings. Yiannopoulos wasn’t asked about the content of the speech that was shut down. The conversation focused instead on how Berkeley proved the point that the Left was ceding its right to fed grants by cracking down on free speech.
Is it possible – just possible – that Yiannopoulos & Brietbart were in cahoots w/the agitators, in order to lay the groundwork for a Trump crackdown on unis & their fed funding?
Last night on CNN I said “I wouldn’t bet against” that possibility. Almost immediately, an indignant article appeared in Breitbart News, misleadingly headlined “Robert Reich Lies, Claims Breitbart News Organized Berkeley Riots.” (See below.) Connect the dots: (1) Yiannopoulos writes for Breitbart, which until recently was run by Bannon, who is now Trump's chief strategist. (2) Before Yiannopoulos speaks at Berkeley, Breitbart publishes an article saying that Yiannopoulos will call for the w/drawal of fed grants & the prosecution of uni officials who endanger their students w/their policies.

Your President is so stupid. Who threatens a school on Twitter and someone should let him know protest is also free speech. We dont live in a dictatorship. We can hate him and his people openly as much as we want. Damn he runs my pressure up. In closing #fuckdonaldtrump and everyone who rocks with him. @Regrann from @balleralert - #Trump threatens to remove UC #Berkeley's federal aid following protests against #Breitbart editor #MilosYiannopoulos - #DonaldTrump #DonaldChump
