Rejection. We all experience it. Sometimes it hurt and we want to crawl in a ditch. But I always think its for a better cause. You never know what with God's plan but at the end of that fog of rejection, there's a higher way, a better way. The NFL American quarterback Collin Rand Kaepernick faced so much backlash when he first used his platform to bring attention to a cause important to him and many. He was one man who carried on a generations movement. Used his voice to speak for thousands. He is my favourite athlete. All the work he does shows selfless love. Something I want to achieve. His recent #milliondollarpledge was a success and showed how an individual can inspire others to get involved with bettering our communities. He is carrying the torch of Muhammad Ali. Our generation needs that, someone who can strive through the burnings of Jerseys, the booings, the name calling from people like Donald Trump. And inspire us to get involved and build our community!✊ #collinkaepernick #athlete #nfl #cba #creatinghistory #bgpphotochallenge #bgpblackhm #bhm #blackhistory365 #resilence #success #takeover #Godisgreat #Christianblog #blackgirl #cba #aspirations #thanksbetogod #brightfuture #blackcommunities #muhammadali #powertothepeople #reachforthestars #staymotivated #slaytrain #blackexcellence #blackhistory #darkskin #iknowmyrights #melanin

My son picked Colin Kaepernick and his Know Your Rights children’s camp to do his Black History Month school project on. #10for10 #kaepernick #kaepernick7 #milliondollarpledge #blackhistorymonth #knowyourrights

Culture Keepers was a project held by Alternatives in Action and sponsored by the Office of Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson as part of his Youth Ancestry Project. After the project ended, Culture Keepers was picked up and transformed by project coordinator,
Kharyshi Wiginton.

In fall 2014, the South Africa Project was born, and Culture Keepers had a new focus and new look. Today, the goal of the project is to empower Black youth, locally and globally, by exposing them to their roots and their peers throughout the African Diaspora.

Culture Keepers is built on the idea that “You cannot love a tree and hate its roots.” To truly transform our youth, it is imperative that our young people know who they are, have a sense of where they come from, so that they can know where they are going. *** To help support our upcoming trip please visit the link in our bio

He kneels. He sits. He stands. And right now, Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) standing at the top of all the controversy surrounding his decisions. Many know Kaepernick from his time on the gridiron field where he was the only player to earn 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards in his NCAA Division 1 career. As an NFL superstar, he's famous for starting the polarizing movement of taking a knee during the National Anthem. In his mind, and later, the minds of many others, Kaepernick's kneeling was saying "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." As you're probably familiar with, this lead to him being a perpetual Free Agent, unsigned with any team, for the last few seasons. Arguably as many people know about Kaepernick from his work off the field. One of his most famous actions off the field is recently completing a "Million Dollar Pledge" he'd made back in 2016. In this pledge, Kaepernick would give $1,000,000 to organizations that worked primarily in oporrssed communities. Rather than go it alone, he creatively recruited other celebrities to help him finish off the last $100,000 in the form of ten $10,000 donations. Celebrities such as Serena Williams and J. Cole would chip in $10,000 to an eligible charity and Kaepernick would match that donation. No one can deny that Kaeoernis a winner on and off the field. Thanks to his charity work, others are able to say that they're now winners too.
