#NeverForget: Today marks the 3 year anniversary of the death of our brother #MikeBrown. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

As of right now the film has grossed $97 million at the domestic box office, and $8 million at the foreign box office. It has outperformed similar themed comedy Rough Night. Rough Night earned $22 million at the domestic box office, and $21 million internationally.

Girls Trip was made with only $20 million and exceeded expectations with a $31 million opening. It is the highest-grossing domestic film with women of colour in the lead. The mantle was previously held by Everything Everything starring Amandla Stenberg, and directed by Stella Meghie. The comedy also scored 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, and many critics praised the comedy for its talented leads, Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and breakout star Tiffany Haddish.

Photo by @jonlowenstein / @noorimages | From the #NOORarchive: With the extreme violence of the past few days in #Charlottesville, we look back at the work of Jon Lowenstein documenting the unrest after Mike Brown's shooting in Ferguson.
Caption: USA, Missiouri, Ferguson, August 2011, Thousands of people demonstrated today in support of Mike Brown who was gunned down in Ferguson, Missouri. About 8:30 a large protest march was organized in which approximately 1 - 2000 people participated. The group marched to the State Police Command Center on West Florrisant Ave. before they were met with a cascade of tear gas, flash bombs, rubber bullets and other methods used by police to disperse the crowd.

Thoughts and prayers for Michael Brown, Sr., and Lesley McSpadden parents of #MikeBrown, killed 3 years ago today in Ferguson, Missouri.

According to the Huffington post, US police murdered at least 258 black people in 2016. A 2010 study by the Institute for Children, Poverty and Homelessness showed that black families were seven times more likely to stay in homeless shelters than white families. The Nielsen Company found that black people have $1.1 trillion in collective buying power as of 2015 with the potential to reach $1.3 trillion by the end of this year. With so much economic capability, it’s a wonder the dollar barely circulates even once before leaving the black community. The brand names we pour our money into and the entertainment/technology sectors that we financially support have done next to nothing to improve the living conditions and life expectancy of black people. And why should they? They didn’t build their companies just to give their fortune away. And it’s not their fault we choose to spend our money on their products.

Been thinking about this brother heavily lately. Been thinking about all of the possibilities his life could've produced. We recently released episode 04 where we discussed Colin Kaepernick, and the unfair treatment he's been experiencing from the NFL and fellow Americans. Colin wanted justice for brothers like Mike Brown, Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, Eric Garner, and the 250+ Black men that were killed by police in 2016. He took a knee to show his support and commitment. In response? He was condemned; often times by his own people. We (We the People) stand behind Colin, and we continue to speak the names of the men and women brutalized by power-hungry and overzealous police officers. We pray you do the same. ✊🏿
