Fall Hunt and Harvest 2017 in Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek - Gull Bay First Nation.
Miigwetch Creator for this moose. Miigwetch moose for your sacrifice. I am reliant on you for sustenance and will forever be grateful. May I one day return to the earth and sacrifice the same energy back. Without you moose, I will perish. Miigwetch to my helpers that helped me pack out my moose. With out your help, I would probably perish in the bush trying to drag the moose out lol. .
It's always hard taking a life. You never hunt for the sake of sport or pride. You hunt for survival, sustenance, purpose. Never shake hands or parade for the sacrifice of a living animal. In turn, be grateful, give thanks and be humble in its offering. .
It's nice in Gull Bay in the fall when it's hunting season and all the moose start coming in and stories start lol. I love stories. .
Here's this one in a short version,
When we started out on a hunt, we all agreed to hunt in the McGee and Penny area, meanwhile we take off further back in the Kitchen Greggio Loop road, being nosey and curios, picking shaggy Mane mushrooms looking for moose tracks. We didn't see any tracks or moose and the sun was starting to set as we start heading back to Gull Bay. I thought I saw a funny looking yellow flag on the top of a long black pole, I was starting at it curiously as I kept driving ahead. Then all of a sudden that sign jumped onto the middle of the road and started running in front of us. I put the truck in park, loaded my clip, and the rest is history :P
Happy Fall Harvest family & friends. .
