@WaltDisneyWorld with my grandbabies and their Mommies. Last night, brother Jay & Karen joined us for a Chef #Mickey experience. 👍Our topic of conversation included "following the commandments." We likened it to a recipe. If we don’t use the proper ingredients or leave some out, our beautiful cake can flop and or taste pretty nasty.
The other two photos tie in with this Sunday message. I have in my possession an oil lamp that's similar to back in the time of the 10 virgins in Jerusalem. In that parable, we learn that if we are faithful in keeping the wick in our lamps trimmed and have sufficient oil on hand, then we will be prepared for Christ’s second coming. The lamp is shown as well in one of my favorite paintings. It hangs in my house and is a constant reminder that when we keep God's commandments daily and are prayerful, we will feel the Holy Ghost's promptings to prepare us for important things to come and abide in Gods protection and safety. "Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them." (Matthew 25:1-3)
As we ate and took photos of Chef Mickey, we spoke of the ultimate recipe for happiness. Like the oil in the wise virgins’ lamps that symbolizes their desire for obedience. We each have the responsibility to ourselves to fill our own lamps in this life. With our obedience and righteousness to the Lord, we show God that we love him and in return, He wants to reward us with His blessings. All He asks is that we obey so that He can honor us with them.
What can we do to fill our own lamps daily with the oil of keeping His commandments so we can have our inner light burning? Have a #Happy #Sunday ! 🔥💋 #HisDay #ParableOfTenVirgins #lightingtheway #oillamp #keepthecommandments
