Detroit, MI. This city has come such a long way from the city I knew when I was a young girl playing hockey at Joe Louis Arena multiple nights a week.
Although there are still dangerous parts in Detroit, it is so much more then a scary place to avoid. It’s full of art, culture, unity, creativity, hope, hard work and love.
We went to the @easternmarket today and saw various genders, races, religions and social classes coexisting. All of them shopping the same vendors, listening to the same music and eating at the same food trucks.
No hate, no judgement and no violence in the heart of a city that’s mistakingly known for all of those things. It’s inspiring to see a city work so hard towards a better tomorrow, especially one that was so close to home while I was growing up. 🏙💪🏼
