Credit to #michsygold : A dog abandoned at the side of the road in Dallas, Texas, last month has found a new, permanent home.

KD, a one-year-old mixed breed, was adopted by Reagan Henderson and her boyfriend Zachary San Romano.

The couple, both 22-year-old students, had gone to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas to find a dog.

At the shelter, they played with KD - then known as Claira-Belle - and said they felt an instant connection.'She was so sweet. We both knew we had to get her,' Henderson told TODAY.

At the time, neither Henderson nor San Romano knew about KD's tragic past, but they were quick to shower her with love and affection.

According to Henderson, KD loves receiving belly rubs, snuggles and anything that provides her with attention.- DailyMail

#michsygold - SANTA ROSA, Calif. — Two men who hiked for miles through Northern California wildfire territory expecting a grim discovery were met with a joyful one instead.

Jack Weaver and his brother-in-law Patrick Widen walked around police barricades, through a creek and up treacherous hilly roads to save Jack's mother from the grim task of recovering the body of the family's beloved dog Izzy.

Katherine Weaver was convinced Izzy died in a ferocious wildfire that destroyed their Northern California neighborhood and sent them fleeing for safety, Katherine still in her nightgown. When the men reached the end of the narrow road, Jack swore as he saw that the house was completely gone. But then Izzy came bounding from the rubble for a joyous reunion.

Jack, who was filming the scene for his parents, captured the joyous reunion on his phone in a video that's gone viral on Facebook, providing a rare bit of good news amid endless scenes of severe destruction. "She was very happy to see us," Jack said of Izzy, a 9-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog. "She's such a brave dog. She was panting a lot and clearly stressed, but she was not frantic or anything." In the frantic race to escape in the middle of the night, the Weavers and many others were forced to leave behind their pets because they couldn't be found or there was simply no time to get them. Thousands of people remained evacuated Saturday as fires continued to rage in California's wine country and authorities said it was still too dangerous to return to burned-out neighborhoods of Santa Rosa.Animal care workers are working overtime to feed and provide medical care for the pets who survived the inferno."She just lost it," Jack said. "She went from being devastated about losing her home to being the happiest person I've ever seen. I couldn't get home fast enough. She was really, really happy ... She's still shaken up by the whole thing, but she's in much better spirits now that Izzy is at our house." - #regrann

Please sign and share petition in my bio- #Kaoru was a therapy dog that helped children with autism before she was shot down by a hunter because he thought she was a wolf ( even though her pack - dogs a human were stand right there!!!! ) this week in front of her mom #caninevalley. This happens every hunting season and it's insane these idiots have guns. So please SHARE SHARE SHARE and SIGN SIGN SIGN!!!! ---- There is an incredible stretch of highway between Squamish and Whistler, locals and tourists alike take delight exploring this region. On September 18, 2017, a trophy hunter shot and killed a local service dog within 200 yards of a highway. A bullet could of easily missed its mark and continued elsewhere potentially causing even more harm.
There is No Shooting & No Hunting zone between North Vancouver to city limits of Squamish. This safe zone prohibits hunting and shooting 400m either side of the highway, however it stops in Squamish and does not continue.
Our goal is to establish a new No Shooting & No Hunting safe zone along this majestic stretch of highway to #protectlife. This would entail a 400m protection zone on either side of the highway from Squamish to Whistler.
Let's not let another tragedy happen, let's make a change.

DICKSON CITY -- "We dropped him off to get groomed, & we get a call that he's dead." Betty Miller of Scranton characterizes the last several days as astonishing.

Last Wednesday, she dropped off her 12-year-old Bichon Brewster at PetSmart in Dickson City to get groomed. Shortly thereafter, she got a call from a vet that was totally unexpected: Brewster was dead after getting attacked by another dog in the grooming salon. "He was loving," Miller said of Brewster. "He was gentle. He was funny. He was like a toy, & he loved everyone." Following the incident at #PetSmart, the Miller's dog was taken immediately to the Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center in South Abington Township, where, unfortunately, Brewster was dead on arrival.

In a statement to Newswatch 16, VREC said that "resuscitation efforts were administered, but proved to be unsuccessful." Miller says she's unhappy with how PetSmart corporate has handled the issue & thinks there could be more safety protocols put in place to avoid tragedies like this. "We called corporate," Miller said. "They did not reach out to us, & I was very angry about that. Why would you want to bring a pit bull past a small dog who's really just bait? He was bait." Following the freak incident, some of Miller's final memories of Brewster bring about heartache. "I felt so guilty the day it happened because we would say to him, 'You want to go bye-bye?' and he'd hop in that car, & he didn't know it was going to be his last ride. It was hard, very, very hard. He's been with us for 12 years. He was just a great dog." PetSmart's entire statement regarding the incident is below: -We are truly saddened by the loss of Brewster. The health, safety and well-being of the pets in our care is our top priority, &we immediately launched an internal investigation to better understand what led to this tragic accident. We have high standards of care in place and are actively gathering more information to determine any policy or procedural violations. We welcome all dogs, regardless of their breed, into our grooming salons provided they are well-behaved.-wnep

#spcatexas BREAKING: On Monday, September 11, 2017, #GorgeSpears turned himself in to authorities after an arrest warrant was issued by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office and the #SPCAofTexas earlier the same day on a charge of cruelty to animals, a Class A misdemeanor, for abandoning a one-year-old female mixed breed dog near Teagarden Rd. at Dowdy Ferry Rd. in southern Dallas. Criminal charges have been filed against Mr. Spears. The crime was recorded by the cameras the Dallas Marshall’s Office installed in the area. This is the first time these cameras have captured an incident of alleged animal cruelty that has led to an arrest, and it marks the beginning of a close partnership between the SPCA of Texas and the Dallas Marshall’s Office in ongoing efforts to crack down on animal cruelty in the Dowdy Ferry and surrounding areas. The dog, later named Claira-Belle, was found by witnesses on August 5th and picked up by Dallas Animal Services in the early morning hours of August 6th. The SPCA of Texas received information regarding the case on August 18th and then began the investigation. Claira-Belle was transferred to the SPCA of Texas on August 22nd, and cared for before being adopted on September 9th. During the course of the investigation, the SPCA of Texas spoke with Gorge Spears, who on September 8th admitted that he dumped the dog, saying that he was trying to help his sister by getting rid of the dog because his sister was unable to control her. This admission led the Dallas County District Att

A jury convicted #AnthonyPastor, 46, of felony aggravated cruelty to animals and other charges May 9, 2017, for the sickening murder of 4-year-old Snoopy. “At sentencing, Justice Robert Mandelbaum said that respondent’s repeated blows to the dog ‘showed almost incomprehensible violence, and malice,’ that the dog was in ‘excruciating pain’ up until she lost consciousness while respondent ‘sat down at his computer in the most cold blooded manner, and went to work, knowing that the dog lay dying,’” wrote the Appellate Division First Department.Pastor is still locked up, serving a two-year sentence for the senseless killing.

A warrant was issued about 10 a.m. Monday for the arrest of 79-year-old LeGus Holloway, according to Texarkana, Texas, police, who report having been inundated by calls from people in 38 states.

Holloway is wanted on a charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals. "At this point, there are concerns for Holloway's safety as a result of threatening comments that some people have made on social media," the post says. "If you know where Holloway is, please call the Police Department and let us know." The Police Department's telephone number is (903) 798-3116.

Meanwhile, the owner of the dog at the center of the animal cruelty investigation has taken the canine to a veterinary clinic, authorities say.

Animal control officers still were scheduled to check on the dog there Monday morning, according to a post late Sunday night to the Police Department's Facebook page.

Regranned from #michsygold - Animal rights campaigners are searching for the identity of a man who appeared to throw a #greyhound into the sea.
Witnesses reported seeing the man pick up the dog and throw it into the freezing water in #Hartlepool, #CountyDurham, on 2 November.
The man then dragged the dog back out on a long lead, before throwing it back into the sea again. Three men with nine greyhounds wearing muzzles were seen on the pier, witnesses said.“They were being carried out to the end of the structure and unceremoniously flung in from a height of about 4ft and a distance, through the air, of 6ft,” one witness said. “The waves were quite strong and my first thought was, once they had surfaced, what if they were propelled by the crashing waves into the rusting sides of the pier?
“There was a significant number of dogs in the group and it appeared that they were being taken out one by one.”The #RSPCA has urged anyone with information about the men to come forward. “We are still making inquiries after we received a concerning report that a group of men with a number of dogs were seen in Hartlepool repeatedly throwing one of the dogs - a greyhound - into the water on Thursday, November 2. “An inspector launched an investigation and attended the scene, but the group were no longer there. “Since then we have been contacted by a member of the public who provided photos of what appears to be a man throwing the dog into the water. “These images are very distressing and we would urge anyone who may have witnessed this, or may have more information which could help an investigation, to contact us on 0300 1234 999.”-independent - #regrann

THIS GOES ON EVERYWHERE THROUGHOUT OUR RICH NATION. PEOPLE CONTINUING TO ALLOW RICH BREEDERS TO PROFIT AND LINE THEIR POCKETS WHILE DESTROYING PRECIOUS LIVES😟PLEASE STOP BUYING FROM PET STORES, BREEDERS AND HELP EXPOSE THESE FILTHY PUPPY MILLS, PET STORES AND OUR BACKYARD BREEDERS. WE MUST HELP STOP THIS TOGETHER!
Puppy Mills and Mass Breeding American Humane opposes the unregulated mass breeding of puppies for the pet markets.

The mass breeding of dogs for the commercial pet market has resulted in numerous large-scale breeding operations referred to as “puppy mills.” Most of these operations are not regulated or audited to ensure proper husbandry (food, water, housing, etc.), veterinary care, socialization, exercise, ability to express normal behavior, and freedom from fear or distress. For the breeding adults and the puppies born in these facilities, neglect of emotional needs due to lack of socialization, isolation and the trauma of transportation at an early age are serious problems which can lead to ongoing health and/or behavioral problems. Lack of knowledge about genetic diseases and proper breeding regimes to reduce health issues can result in future suffering for both adults and puppies. American Humane opposes the unregulated mass breeding of puppies for the pet market. American Humane also supports the regulation of pet sales through the Internet, wanting each and every new pet to arrive at a new home in a physically and emotionally healthy state. #adoptdontshop #puppymillssuck #breederssuck #helpstopbreeding #exposethetruth #lovethemdonthurtthem #filthybastards #missouri #americanhumane #gfynm Repost #rescuesneedyou

These horrific pictures show the body of a dead dog which was found shoved in a rucksack with its paws tied together with cables. The #Staffordshirebull terrier was found by a tree surgeon in a zipped-up rucksack and wrapped in a child's duvet and gaffe tape, on the edge of the New Forest. His legs were also cruelly bound together. The #RSPCA has now launched an investigation following the gruesome discovery near the village of #DibdenPurlieu, in #HampshireRSPCA inspector Penny Baker: 'He was found in a large, brand new zipped-up rucksack. 'He was in normal bodily condition with some scabbing around his groin area and bruising inside his mouth but it is not clear how he died. 'I'd be interested to know where this dog has come from and how he ended up buried in a bag with his legs bound together. 'If anyone recognises him, knows where he may have come from, or saw anything suspicious in the area when the body was dumped then I'd really like to hear from them.'The male Staffordshire bull terrier was not microchipped so it has not been possible to find out where he came from, or who owned him before his death. Anyone with any information should contact the RSPCA appeal line on 0300 123 8018.

Genesee County has seen another heartbreaking case involving #animalcruelty charges. Information received by the #GeneseeCountySheriffs Office indicated that TWO dogs were dropped off to our local #HumaneSociety. The animals reportedly were suffering from #malnutrition and #starvation.
My office initiated an investigation, and it was discovered that the dogs had been kept in a basement, covered in urine, feces, and trash.
During our investigation, it was revealed that the individual who lived in the home was struggling with Heroin addiction, and the dogs would go for weeks at a time without food. Her live in boyfriend would apparently from time to time feed the dogs by throwing pizza into the basement.
It was also discovered that a THIRD dog had #died in the home due to the same starvation issue. The surviving two dogs then began eating the deceased animal, in their only means of nourishment. It was revealed the suspect knew this was occurring, but did not intervene due to her drug addiction.
After investigating these horrific circumstances, the case was turned over to the Genesee County Prosecutors Office. Each suspect has been charged with 1 count of Animal Killing/Torturing, a 4 year max felony.
I would like to thank the detectives in my office for their dedication to this case, and Prosecutor David Leyton for his efficient and expeditious handling of the charges.
My hope is this case will be a warning to others, that our County takes animal cruelty issues seriously, and will take action against those who abuse these pets. Repost Robert J. Pickell

Nate, an elderly Staffordshire bull terrier, is being cared for by the #RSPCA after his previous owner slashed his throat.

The owner was given an 18 month suspended prison sentence and was disqualified from owning dogs for five years.

Nate, who is now 10, has recovered from his injuries and needs a happy retirement home where he can get the love and attention he deserves. The RSPCA is appealing for anyone who thinks they can offer Nate a home to get in touch.

Suzanne Norbury, from the RSPCA, said: “Nate is just gorgeous. He’s such a lovely lad. He came to us after he’d been picked up by an inspector from the police. “He was in an awful state. His throat had been slashed from left to right and back again. The wound was so deep we weren’t sure he’d survive his injuries. “The vet did an amazing job and the team dedicated their lives to helping his recovery. His dressings were changed everyday for weeks and weeks and he didn’t complain once, he never even raised a hair. “Sadly he has a haunted look, it’s as if he remembers what happened and is struggling to understand why. We sometimes wish he could talk. “Nate desperately deserves a second chance in a loving retirement home where he can live out his days in peace after recovering from such a horrible ordeal.” The ideal home for Nate would be one where is he the only dog and with no young children, because of his advanced years.

Anyone who thinks they can offer Nate a home should email suzanne.norbury@rspca.org.uk with ‘Nate’ in the title of the email. #helpnatefindahome
