I have been been under more stress than usual lately and wanted to share a few things I’m doing to get through it. (And yes, it involves eggs 🍳):
Cooking and eating high quality food that brings me the most pleasure. When I’m chopping veggies in my kitchen and cooking, it focuses me on the present moment and allows for me to feel creative in a simple, easy way.
Getting out in nature. I’m lucky because I live 3 blocks from the beach. The beach is my sanctuary, my oasis and my happy place. Every time I’m looking at the ocean I feel small and part of a bigger universe with a grand, master plan. It makes me feel connected and alive.
I have lots of wonderful friends in my life but one in particular who allows our WhatsApp convo to basically be a steady stream of me expressing my frustrations, fears and new downloads without judgement. Just the act of expression and sharing what you are going through is a major release!
I started journaling again. I’m talking about journaling so hard my hand is falling off. I started having anxiety and frustration about starting my book. I realized that dread and angst wasn’t going to make this a pretty process and I needed to clear my creative portal by just brain dumping the random mess of thoughts in my head. The physical act of pen to paper is one of the most powerful things you can do to clear your mind and tap into your intuition.
If you’re in the midst of a stormy season or a stressful chapter, be sure to take extra good care of your body, mind, soul and spirit. Be gentle and kind to yourself and I promise you’ll make it through to the other side with a newfound strength, resilience and sense of gratitude.
