The Mets are coming off a dreadful 12-5 loss to the Angels. We did manage to take the series, but with the hole we've dug ourselves into it's going to be hard to win the division. Jose Reyes just got his 2000th hit, but does he have room to play if Rosario comes up? Rosario is hitting .360 in AAA and is on an absolute tear. Reyes? It's his first time above the Mendoza line all season with a .205 average. Now, with Cabrera coming back and the rise of Rosario where does Reyes go? Do we denote Matt Reynolds and Bench Reyes? Because if Rosario is up here he's going to play. He needs all the time he can get. Next, Rafael Montero and Robert Gsellman. Montero has never lived up to the hype he had as a prospect, as he's 1-8 with a 5.70 ERA in his career and is 0-3 with an 8.10 ERA this year with a whip above 2.5. Robert Gsellman has also struggled, as he's 2-3 with a 6.75 ERA. He was recently moved to the pen. But, Steven Matz and Seth Lugo are supposedly coming back as soon as next week. Now, do we keep Gsellman up here as a reliever and demote Montero? Do we try to get Gsellman back to 2016 form as a starter by starting him in AAA? This is another tough choice. Lastly, I saw people freaking out over Tommy Milone on Instagram and Twitter. I even saw another uneducated rant by @mets_maniac. Now, he isn't perfect. But one bad start doesn't judge a person's career. It happens to everyone. Now, his ERA is inflated because of his 8 runs allowed yesterday. But he didn't do that bad as a fill in for us those first 2 games. Against the Giants on May 10, he threw 5 innings of 2 run ball. The Mets lost that game. Familia blew the save. In his next start he had to face a hot DBacks team and Zack Greinke. He allowed 5 runs in 5.2, but one of them Goldschmidt stole home for. Now, he obviously isn't an ace but he's a solid 5. I'd put him in our bullpen as a long reliever/starter over Rafael Montero. Now, the Mets play 3 games against SD, then PIT. Those are very easy games to win. If the Mets want to win this division they have to capitalize on these matchups. After that is Milwaukee, then Pittsburgh again, then we go to Texas for 2. Can the Mets compete? Please comment below!
