Someone told me that they bought a merlequin from a breeder with paperwork stating that it's not double merle. 1. When getting a dog from a breeder educate yourself on what good breeding is for the breed. 2. Don't buy dogs from breeders that breed merlexmerle, merlexharlequin, or harlequinxharlequin. You encourage them to continue creating deaf and blind pups. 3. If you still insist on going to a breeder require genetic testing, health screenings of hips/knees/etc, require a 1-2 year health guarantee. If a breeder won't give you those things walk away no matter how cute the puppies are. Don't spend $1000's of dollars for a badly bred dog.
4. If you can rescue please do!!! There are plenty of unwanted puppies in rescues. ***this post has nothing against good breeders that breed for the betterment of the breed.*** http://www.border-wars.com/2011/07/something-is-rotten-in-harlequin-danes.html
