Those little Snow White pauldrons were my first attempt at making anything back in 2014. They were made of: paper Dixie bowls, spray foam, and paper mache lol. 2016 was the first year I made a full cosplay by myself. Weapon, armor, all the clothing articles (with some sewing help/mentoring from a friend). I didn't practice making anything in those two years apart. I never made armor like Meredith's.. I never made armor. I did my research year around and looked up tutorials. That was my way of getting the knowledge without doing the test trials. Most of my cosplays are test trials with new materials and methods only a few weeks before con. It's impressive but also pointless because I don't feel like I'm truly getting to learn and utilize all I can do. My "wingin' it" gets a #cosplayglowup I guess. This year has been the time I actually want to learn, practice, and actually focus on making good quality results. Let's see what I can do without constantly improvising and throwing things together a week or two before cons. Bring it on 2017-2018.
