Not your average choice for an all American roadtrip car, but on a trip for a family of 5 with large luggage, a convertible mustang or chevy wouldn,t cut it! I opted for the Mercedes GLC SUV automatic.
Aesthetics - nice looking, sleek car on the outside
Interior- is as sleek as the exterior, nice solid mouldings and stitching on the seats and dash. Good amount of space and leg room for a party of 5 adults. The car has very comfortable seats, which are fully adjustable. There are cubby holes and nice storage areas to keep things easily accessible or hidden from view. The boot was our main concern with 4 large bags, one medium and one hand bag, we had concerns. After nearly opting for the larger model, we decided to try our luck and managed, with some jigging and shoving to get all our luggage in.
Likes - aesthetics internal and external, particularly the auto folding wing mirrors and lights. The comfort that came from seating and steering wheel. The keyless key, which only needs to be in the car for it to work and the great reminder to take it when parked. The rear view parking camera during the day. Speakers, have a great sound even when cracked up high.
Dislikes - The boot, although auto open required a manual push down and was too high for some members of our party to reach. The seat adjustment took a qhile to figure out ( its on the door not in regular places around the seat, but works well when you know), The handbrake again is in a strange place, not on centre console as with other cars, but a small button down to left of steering wheel ( took a while to find and is easy to forget about, due to placement). Visibilty is great when using side mirrors but an over the shoulder look, visibilty is hindered with 5 people. I mentioned I like the rear parking camera in the day, but at night i found it to dark and grainy to trust.
Overall, i really liked this car, it felt well made and had the luxury expected from mercedes and was a pleasure to drive. Even though an SUV, it handled well and didn't feel to large (compared to other American SUV's anyway). The space qas adequate for 5 adults and the boot capacity was a real surprise.
