I often find myself expressing how much my heart breaks for Jon. I could not imagine going through what he is fighting each and every day. Yes, the physical limitations are challenging but, more than that, the communication piece is unimaginably difficult. Aphasia is very complex and each case is different. For Jon, there is no consistent way of communicating. Jon needs consistency in order to successfully overcome his communication challenges. For that reason, I am stepping in and handling more of his daily needs in hopes of providing more of a consistent routine each day. I apologize to those that have recently reached out to me for not responding back to you in a timely manner. From the beginning I remember the nurses in ICU telling me take care of yourself now because there will come a point when he needs you more and more. That time has come. We are excited to be transitioning to a new facility next week. This is both exciting and scary on so many levels. I plan on sharing more about the transition in future posts. For now, thank you to everyone reading this for your continued love, prayers, encouragement and support.
