Do you know that you can use teas for some serious hormonal healing?

Particular plants can seriously LOVE on your body, hormones and skin. Even better? They’re easy, inexpensive and delicious.

🍵 Green Tea (including matcha) has been shown to have DHT blocking effects. If DHT is fueling your acne or hair loss, you could definitely see improvement in this area. Just make sure to not consume caffeine after noon.

🌿 Spearmint Tea has an anti-androgenic effect and is very helpful in helping with high androgen related acne. It’s also herbal and caffeine free, so can drink anytime! Refreshing AF.

🍓Red raspberry leaf is a great way to boost natural production of progesterone and support the uterine lining. Drink in weeks 3-4 of your cycle. (Please pretend that strawberry is a raspberry 😂)

🌾 Ginger is anti-inflammatory and amazing for digestion. Tummy troubles before your period? Ginger. Cramps? Ginger. Want something to drink during your meal that supports digestion? Ginger.

🌱Dandelion Root, the “miracle weed”, supports liver detoxification, gall bladder secretion and the urinary tract. We want to love on the liver, so it effectively detoxifies estrogens.

🌺 Hibiscus is amazing for nourishing the skin, as it’s rich in vitamins a & c, iron, b vitamins (b1 & b2) and zinc.

I always am reminding my clients that the simple things add up. Opting for a big glass of herbal tea over that second cup of coffee. Taking 10 minutes to stretch your legs during lunch. Taking 5 to listen to your favorite song or dance it out. Small consistent habits = big changes over time.

Teas aren’t only a great way to get a variety of plant nutrients in, but also to stay hydrated in a way that doesn’t flush minerals out of the body.

Let’s talk emotional health for a moment. There appears to be three prominent themes I’m seeing in the broader collective right now. ⠀

(1) Those who are pushing and feeling like they need to do more and more to achieve what they desire. ⠀

(2) Those who are starting to question the constant striving and exploring the idea of doing things differently. To be able to step back to step forward. Those tuning back into their intuition, the daily messages from their body and Earth to guide them to their next steps in life.⠀

(3) Those who have literally had enough of the striving and thus are in the space of complete nervous system overload & emotional trauma....some consciously, but most unconsciously aware that they are even here. ⠀

Do you feel any of these feels? This year I’ve sat in all 3. Right now I’m deep in (2)...letting my body, my intuition and my connection to Earth (as well as the Soul I’m about to birth) guide me towards possibility, without force & without judgment. ⠀

Day 24/26 sick kiddo. Luckily no nighttime wake ups but the HEAVINESS that I wake with these last few days is hard. And then to be immediately dragged out of bed by a child threatening to puke everywhere as he heads to the loo... to have the hubby stay in bed AAAARRRGHGGHHHHHHH!!!! I did have a self awareness moment though. ‘Dont be a martyr’. Cause silently seething to prove a point doesn’t really help me. Funny that! So I asked for help. But it just comes after a day of him forgetting little things I’ve asked for help with. The emotional labour/ the mental load of asking then having to remember to remind him, makes the original asking nil and void I recon! 😕 inner autumn heavy today. xxx Time for a big cuppa.

A woman today will have an average of 450 menstrual cycles in her lifetime. She can lose anywhere between a couple of teaspoons to about half of cup of blood each cycle. That’s a lot of blood but more than that, it is a lot of nutrients.

As a practice of empowerment along with reframing the cultural stigma around female menstruation, combined with our increased awareness of sustainable living,
many women are adapting the practice of utilizing their menstrual blood as a means to nourish gardens and house plants. 🌱

Farmers and botanists know the secret to a good garden or crop is to add vitamins or ‘food. It is common practice to use meal fertilizer from dried blood taken from slaughtered cows and other animals.

Blood is perfect food for plants due to its high nitrogen and protein composition. Earth’s atmosphere is 78% nitrogen and blood is one of its greatest sources. Plants give off nitrogen to help balance the oxygen in the air and also thrive on nitrogen-based food. So Menstrual blood is no exception in being a great fertilizer because it “contains three primary plant macronutrients—nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium”. 🌸

So how can you collect your menstrual blood to use as fertilizer? If you use a cup you can simply pour the collection into mason jar or any container, but if you are using menstrual pads, you can to soak them in water for a half hour to collect the blood.

To be safe, it is best to wait 48 hours after collection before fertilizing your garden just to make sure no airborne pathogens are present. Dilute your blood in a 10:1 ratio so as not to overload your plants. 🌿

This can be a powerful practice to reclaim our power and shed the shame and oppression that has been attached to menstruation. Women will always be a source of life and a representation of ‘mother’ earth. Why shouldn’t we want to give back with our nutrient dense blood, as a reminder to that we are a life-giving force and an integral part of the circle of life. 💥🌺

SEX EDUCATION DAY. Silence as education is simply not the way forward. To talk to children about their bodies, their anatomy - and not only how babies are made - but also how we can experience pleasure from our bodies, without the subject feeling taboo or dirty, is essential.
As adults, this opens up to a healthy relationship with our body and through knowing ourselves and allowing ourselves to try and see what feels good and what doesn’t to us, we’ll gain a sense of independence and empowerment. To feel dependant only on ourselves for our own pleasure (and then being able to teach others what feels good to us) all begins with a healthy attitude towards our bodies. #lilithstreasure

I've talked a lot about the two different phases (follicular and luteal) of the menstrual cycle 🌕
.
But did you know they can be further broken down into 4 phases? Also know as your inner seasons.
.
These seasons are:
⛄ Winter (menstruation)
🌻 Spring (after menstruation ➡ before ovulation)
🌞 Summer (ovulation)
🍁 Autumn (after ovulation ➡ before menstruation)
.
With each season your emotions, mental clarity, energy levels and so much more changes.
.
You may notice that you are a lot more outgoing during your summer phase than your winter, or that you are feeling more powerful and confident during your spring.
.
Start to take notice of how you feel during each of your inner seasons. This will help you to embrace your emotions and feelings during each cycle 💖

Sync Your Life with Your Cycle (Gold Coast Event tomorrow!)

Each time I have my period (around day 3 or 4) I take out a giant sheet of paper and some coloured pens, and map out the cycle ahead. It looks a little something like this....
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Divide the paper into four sections, one for each Inner Season or phase of the cycle. Jot down a few keyword that encompass the energy of each season, and the rough dates I expect to be in that phase. List my priorities for each inner season, including work tasks, self care, events and social commitments. Where possible, I plan to do things at the time of the cycle where they'll come most naturally e.g. running events in my Inner Summer.

This process helps me get super clear on my priorities for the cycle/month ahead (I distill it down to one Post-It per season). It allows me to pace myself, to be more productive, and provides the space for my creativity to thrive!

{ground & forgive} plant based medicine⠀

It’s Day 2 of the DoTERRA buy one get one free sale {BOGO - see my last post for details} ...and today includes my absolute favorite and most used oil Balance. ⠀

I use Balance every morning either as part of an oil massage pre shower or in my moisturizer post shower & often as a perfume throughout the day too because it is SO deeply grounding & already diluted with fractionated coconut oil so can go directly onto the skin. ⠀

I feel like unless I take time each day to create these rituals and practices my nervous system becomes profoundly affected by modern life. You know that sense of ‘let’s sell all of stuff & move to the forest off the grid kinda feels...’ yep! So a daily dose of Balance keeps my nervous system feeling very grounded. ⠀

The second oil (the one you get for free!) is Forgive. I’m taking advantage of todays BOGO because I’ve yet to add Forgive to my collection, but after a divine chai with my sista @nourishednaturally_kryan this morning she assures me it is powerful in shifting grief out of the body. ⠀

And knowing the feels of the collective right now, we are ALL healing some BIG ancestral lineage stuff. ⠀
