'Transformers: The Last Knight' The fifth installment in the series can be described in two words: A mess. Going in I did not expect a masterpiece but rather a visually appealing, explosion driven movie and that is what it is exactly. Only this time around, the overall movie was so badly executed. Major flaws included editing, uninteresting and pointless subplots, continuity errors, and a flow that is nonexistent. The flow is the worst. The movie feels like it skips alot of things and were rapidly in a new place with no explanation as to how or why. Theres not really attention to detail, story wise. The visuals are good though as well as some of the action. But the human characters are still the weakest part of these movies. Mark Wahlberg was good as well as Anthony Hopkins who brought a great comedic performance. But other minor characters were so uninteresting and basically useless that were only there to fill the movie. Especially "Izabella" who is one of the worst characters I've experienced in the series. Pointless and full of cliches that are too old to feel fresh. I did appreciate however that the main female lead "Viviane" was more than just a love interest or damsel in distress. She actually is a key part of the entire story.
The strongest aspect of the movie was definitely Megatron. His design is amazing to look at and always brings a menacing atmosphere. If they wouldve made the movie solely about the medieval times, this couldve been an awesome movie because there was potential.
Another flaw I noticed was that some scenes/sequences felt like rip off of other well known movies like 'Star Wars' most notably 'TFA', 'Suicide Squad' ,and even 'Arrival'. These dont really look like homages but rather rip offs that takes you out of the movie if you notice them too. Its a heavily flawed movie that feels like four different movies molded into one due to its execution.
