And going even deeper, meditation attunes us to an inner knowledge. Recognizing your self as knowledge ~ not merely mind and thoughts ~ the perception of self transcends conventional barriers. Then, the things (body, mind, and universe) are known to be in you, not that you are in the universe as a tiny, very temporary entity. The kingdom of heaven is within you. Seek ye (know this), and all else will be added unto you.

Do you ever truly relax?
I’m not talking sitting on the couch watching tv or reading a book. I’m talking about truly shutting off your brain, being intentional with your breath, and letting your body sink into relaxation.
I didn’t know what that really was until i started taking Yoga.🧘🏻‍♀️ Wow! Yoga made such a difference in my life mentally and physically. The very last 10 minutes where you just lay there in peace and let your body fall out is my favorite. Have you tried Yoga? Since having Ruby i have not gotten back into it and i NEED to. It’s so good for your mind, body and soul. 🙏

I just found out about this app called Headspace. Have you heard of it? I have only done it twice now but really like it! It’s guided meditation made simple. You can choose your level. I’m a beginner right now. You choose your time, so you can start at 3 min and go up. There are different settings for specific ways you need to relax whether it be your mind or sleep. There are different options even ones for kids. The app will send you a reminder each day so you don’t forget. With how busy and hectic the day is, it’s nice to have a reminder.
I did the guided meditation🧘🏻‍♀️ for just three minutes the other day and could tell a complete 100% difference in my body and mind afterwards. It’s so hard to truly shut our brains 🧠 off from the world and really relax. I love that this app helps me do just that and it’s super simple. I love ❤️ simple.

This isn’t your typical woo-woo meditation post. If you’re thinking meditation isn’t for you, I get it. Trust me, I was there.

What does meditation look like to you? All it requires is tuning in. It might look like sitting on the floor with your eyes closed and your hands on your legs. It might look like lying in bed. It might look like closing your eyes while you ride the train to work. Whatever stereotypical image of meditation you have in your mind, know that you can create your own quiet time. ✨
I got more serious about meditation this year. I don’t do it ever single day but when I do it, I notice a huge difference. I’ve learned there’s always time to meditate. No matter how crazy the day, just a couple minutes can make a huge difference.

It’s not about controlling your thoughts or stopping your thoughts (thaaaat’s impossible) - it’s about observing them. Just like mindful eating is about neutral observation rather than judgment, so is meditation.

There’s loads of apps you can download to help guide you through meditation but you also can close your eyes right now, take 5 deep breaths, focusing on the air passing through your nostrils and see how you feel. Guess what - you just meditated!

Our minds are constantly stimulated by our work, responsibilities, problems, social media, etc. Why not give it a little rest? There’s no shame in dedicating time to take care of your emotional and mental health the same way you do your physical health. From meditation and mindfulness to psychotherapy and counseling, mental health care is a huge part of self-care!

We started with deep belly breaths as I rang the Tibetan singing bowl, then we did a few poses just to wake up our spines, then we all wiggled our bodies for 5 breaths & alternated with holding yoga poses for 3 breaths.
