I have a thing for alleyways and broken down old buildings 💚 I took this picture while we were driving around discussing our current medical bills. We got one of my husband's ER bills (it says to expect another) in the mail - $1,112. Plus we were finally sent to billing after our OB appointment on Friday and learned that we need to pay another $1,100 before the baby comes in November. And that's just for my OB visits and delivery - it doesn't include labs, sonograms, or the hospital's services. As we walked away my husband asked, "no tears this time?"
Yep, with my last pregnancy I walked away from that meeting in billing hardly able to breathe, crushed under the weight of how much we owed, and broke down crying in the car. It's funny how a budget and a little bit of savings gives me so much comfort! It even gave me the courage to look into our health insurance and discover that, if I understand it correctly, we'll pay a maximum of $5,500 for MY care (when the baby is born his or her own out of pocket max will apply).
Thanks to the budget and the records we've kept this year I was able to draw up an expense and savings projection for the rest of the year and give us the security of knowing that we can save DOUBLE that and get by comfortably while I'm on maternity leave. Talk about making your budget work for you!
