A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to set off into the backcountry with three smart, funny, interesting and courageous women. We were all going through our own major life events. I just lost my mother to cancer at the end of June, and she was in many ways a mother to two of these women. Others were experiencing equally significant life changes.
We set off on the trail for a four day adventure, relying only on ourselves and eachother. We navigated forests, mountains and up alpine peaks. We sweat, braved storms, chopped wood, set up shelters, cooked, laughed, swam and formed a sisterhood together.
Confidence, self reliance, gratitude and strength grew in each of us through these challenges and experiences. We learned more about ourselves, our limitations or lack there of and our resiliency.
There is something so powerful and unique about challenging yourself with other women, it changes you - and the sisterhoods formed last forever.
When I returned home from that trip my grief felt a little lighter and my perspective clearer.
