As soon as she walked in the door I knew it was an incident report waiting to happen. Not quite back to full strength after the mystery illness that wiped out most of June but getting there slowly but surely while on vacation. Do you want to bulk intelligently? Then you want to lean gain. This way, you will still look jacked instead of fat, and you can still put on muscle. Here's how:

Eat enough to support muscle growth (but not fat growth). Start out with bodyweight (lbs) x 16-18 and go from there.

Chase strength in the gym. Pick 2 upper body compound lifts and 2 lower body compound lifts and get stronger in these lifts. That's the one thing you need to focus on in the gym. If you can add strength to these lifts (without sacrificing form), then muscle will follow.

Focus on quality muscle. If you are bulking right, you should only gain 2-4lbs PER MONTH. Take waist measurements and if your waist size is increasing drastically, you're gaining fat. If it's staying the same or shrinking, you're gaining quality muscle.

Do this right, and you'll be a leaner version of the Mountain; crushing people's skull with your bare hands in no time.
