Letting kids experiment with paint is a cool mark making activity! It might look like scribble but these are developmentally appropriate marks for this age group. Kids will begin to assign meaning to the marks they make and may even start copywriting letters/numbers/symbols from their environment - the circles in this picture are attempts to copy letter shapes. Painting upright helps build upper body strength, too! #preschool#kindergarten#markmaking#meaningfulmarks#3yearold#paint#earlywriting

I had the pleasure of chatting with the founders of @friendoftheartist on the topics of art today, mark-making, and my personal process. They've just released a (free) multi-media version of the interview on iBooks, and it's such a lovely publication! I am amazed at what this bunch is already doing to support and communicate with artists. #bigthanks#FOA [Download with the link in my profile or check out a shortened version of the article online:
It's been 2 weeks since I got back from my trip abroad, and I think I'm finally adjusted to my new work schedule! That 7-4 life is no joke 🙈 I'm also FINALLY getting back to my art with website updates, new etsy listings, and starting new projects. I've got good feelings about this Fall 🌿🍂🍁
