Work on my M.Arch Thesis continues — I’m working on a series of large format sheets, drafted by hand. Although the project is taking remarkably longer than I anticipated, I’m learning through drawing. Unlike the computer, each sheet holds the traces of my thoughts and actions: old lines, new lines, hard lines, freehand doodles, eraser marks and a tremendously interesting layered “palimpsest” approach that speaks directly to the subject of the work itself.
I’m encouraging that architects need to go deeper into site investigation than simply the present point in time — the contour lines, the rain, the sun — and explore the history of the site through the buildings of the past the lived intangible histories.
