What I can't resist, even more than a beautiful graffiti, is a graffiti of a yogi! Day 4 of #mayibeginyoga2016 with Upward Facing Dog. My obsession of taking yoga photos in front of graffitis, old buildings, colorful walls, etc, has given me a new outlook on life. Suddenly I look at walls as breathing, I see graffitis as if they were alive. Sometimes I see a beautiful texture and think "I've got to take a yoga pic". Sometimes I think I risk being trite, but what I hope I can actually express is the energy and spirit that the environment transmits to me! 🙏🏼 @kinoyoga @beachyogagirl @omstarsapparel @liquidoactive

Saturday mornings are for coffee & yoga ☕️...

The infamous chaturanga dandasana... In this pose, one learns to resist as they lower, and since I'm pretty good at resistance, this pose has always been a strong suit of mine 😂 Over time I've learned to be more sensitive to the floor. Like dancing with a partner, I've learned to use my limbs not just to push, but to feel and sense. I thought I knew the feeling of gravity because I've been living with it all my life, but I've learned that it is easy to forget and to be careless. Constantly attuning myself to gravity's pull is a call to presence and reveals my habits for relating to all of the pulls in my life. Day 1 #IGYogisUnite challenge ❤️❤️ I am so sorry for all the Great and inspirering yogis who lost pictures or hole accounts in the IG hack or what it was 😞 I was locked out for almost a week but lost nothing. My yoga life began in Fall 2015 when me and my friend attended a free ashtanga yoga class - I have knee problems and osteoporoses so I was searching for something sporty to do 🤔 I was hooked at the first class and for about 6 months I did yoga in class ones a week. Then I found some videos at youtube and in may 2016 I did my first Challenge in IG 😍 #mayibeginyoga2016 with Kino and beachyogagirl - I posted everyday and really loved it. Ir made me go om my mat every Day 👍 after that I just kept doping challenges and love This community where I have Met so many lovely yogis and all are willing to help with good advice and chearing up comments. I have learned so much from so many talented and Awesome yogis and would NOT miss This for anything 😍 Love you all💕💕💕One of the poses I have learned om IG is handstand - I never thought that I could ever do This - the first time I tried - all the blood in my Body went to my head and I really thought my arms would brake 🤣🤣😜

My hands don't touch fully, need constantly remind myself to strengthen the legs and open the chest. Oh, but the pose is really big, it's a key to splits and open shoulders (so much needed!)

Day29 #mayibeginyoga2016 #dolphinpose It is actually much harder to hold than #pinchamayurasana itself and requires hell lot of shoulder mobility (lack!) and strength (work in progress). This is the closest I can walk to head keeping the straight shoulder/back line😤

Day16 #mayibeginyoga2016 is #baddhakonasana Though my hips changed a lot for the last year, opening in baddha konasana is a very slow process. To be honest I feel my hips opening without the strain on my low back in this pose only when I pull myself with hands or if someone assisting by pressing on the sacrum. So work in progress 🤔

Day14 #mayibeginyoga2016 #bakasana Today was a very strange practice. My body was very strong and flexible but had zero energy. I pushed myself on the mat and pushed through every asana of half primary. The asanas felt easy, vinyasas went high and strong, even urdhvadhanurasana was strong and open and I stayed couple of extra breaths there.... but I needed to push myself to start every single asana. And only in the very end in yoga-mudra I forced myself to relax...and physically felt the body tension floating down off me. After savasana I waked up absolutely new, fresh, active and very happy♥️

The quality of the lower photo (may 2015) is terrible but you can see where I started from. My shoulders are still very stiff...but I can see the result of my everyday work! If I make the same step every year, in 3 or 4 years time my hand will touch the ground, and it is waaaay sooner then never!

Day6 for #mayibeginyoga2016 #virabhadrasana2 Few times i heard about yogis having weak muscle groups, that are left behind - "pulling" shoulder and back muscles, adductor group for legs (internal or medial thighs) and specialty of ashtangies, practicing primary series - back thighs and gluteus group, as there are plenty of forward folds but very few asanas with focus on strengthening the muscles, supporting back of the hip joint. All three warriors are a cure to these problems, so make sure I always go very carefully through them

Could not get my head in to doing my workout yesterday, so today I had a bit of catching up to do. I'm not going to beat myself up over not doing it yesterday, my theory is that if I can't get into the mindset of working out, then I'm not going to workout that day. If I have to force myself to do a workout, then I'm not really doing it for me.
