Good evening everyone!
A lot has happened in my world since my last post a few weeks ago. You may be wondering why there’s no metadata for this photo. Well, for one it’s because my Lightroom catalog got messed up and deleted most of my photos and for two it’s because I have lost all the shots that I’ve ever taken with my Sony.
Weekend before last, you all may have seen my stories here on Instagram about the tragedy that happened with my camera. If you missed it, here’s what happened: I have been traveling up north in Maine for the past few weeks and have been staying with family on Clearwater Lake which has a gorgeous view of the mountains and hills. One evening after a solid day of stormy weather, the sky cleared up a bit and a gorgeous fog began to roll in over the hills right before sunset. I grabbed my camera and tripod and headed out to one of the many rocky areas by the water. Once everything was set up perfectly I began to shoot. However, I only managed to get this one shot before my tripod suddenly slipped and plunged in to 3 foot deep lake water with my A7 and Canon 50mm f/1.4 FD attached. It was only submerged for about 2 seconds before I jumped in and was able to retrieve it, however I think it was just enough time to kill it.
My camera and lens is currently in a bag of instant white rice and I’m hoping for the best. Thank you to my wonderful friend @clairegould2 for being so supportive and answering my frantic messages I sent her as everything unfolded. I am so appreciative for all your love Claire! Also I am so thankful to @tonynorthrup, @ashieldsphoto and @kylewolfe_ for all their wonderful suggestions and help regarding the best methods to try and save my gear.
Sorry for such a depressing post, I will have some much lighter content coming up super soon, so stay tuned.
