Current mood: Burn it all down, baby.
This is beyond disgraceful. My “favorite” part of this is watching white men in power completely disgregard the issues at hand, and with it, women’s stories and voices and say “It’s a scary time for men and they are so worried about their sons..” It makes me see RED. Is this why the #Republicanparty is the RED party? Huh. That fits.
I bet it is scary: losing your grip on power and position. But this is what happens when toxic systems are challenged: The system has to do all it can to either cast out those who challenge it and fill those vacancies with someone who isn’t a threat, or manipulate the challengers back into the system. shame, fear, gaslighting, emotional abuse, lying, manipulation, stonewalling, ignoring, refusing to acknowledge what they find inconvenient, regardless the cost to other’s wellbeing, withholding any real accountability and distracting/projecting all their issues onto whoever challenged them etc; all ways weak people get “control” when they are frightened so they can keep “functioning.” The only way to change a toxic system: destroy it and build a new one. Scary times indeed, boys.
You should try to smile more...? Almost every woman I know has suffered abuse or assault and most of them, in silence. We have all accepted half assed (if any) accounting for bad behavior - conditioned to be “nice” and accept crumbs of respect for fear of “pushing it.” Watching Kavanaugh unravel when he was confronted with his own behavior was not surprising to most women I know. We’ve all seen it before: men losing their shit, Deflecting, bailing, blocking you, ignoring you, emotionally manipulating you, cowardly refusing to deal with the consequences of their actions and being told in a myriad of ways, when we find the courage to speak up to “get over it.” Whether we like it or not. And we are done.
Get ready world. The tides are turning. Maybe not overnight, but they will turn. Goodbye patriarchy. You had a horrible run. And it was. Not. Fun. At. All.
I was going to take a hot bath and crack open a new book, but I think instead, I might put Kill Bill or Fury Road up on the projector screen and have a re-watch.
