For my business owner buddies: no matter what you sell, if you're not making content (words, or video, or audio, for use on social media) then you're becoming irrelevant, fast.
Not only are you invisible to all potential customers, but your importance is slipping in the mind of the customers you currently have.
And that's just the start. Your content has to be good too. But if you're not even making it, then you're probably hanging in (business wise) by the skin of your teeth.
Let me guess...
- Sales low and cashflow tight?
- Too many staff hanging around?
- Revenue inconsistent month to month?
Of course it is. If you're not making content then that's a key indicator that your marketing department gets NONE of your real attention.
As 2018 turns half a year old, take stock of where you hoped you'd be. Now, consider how much closer to those goals you could be if you'd pulled your finger out and tackled your marketing at the start of the year.
Like you know you should have.
Marketing has fundamentally changed. Yet so many businesses refuse to accept it.
While sticking your head in the sand may feel easier, if you don't sober up, and take action, now, 2019 might bring a whole different set of challenges that no amount of head-in-sand-action will fix.
Read some books, listen to podcasts, do some training, get some bloody help. Bang on some doors, shake some cages, ask some questions. Don't stop until you get the content flowing. There's no excuse.
Your content is how you talk to the world. It's your voice. And this place is one big party. Having 'zero content' means you're sitting in the corner facing the wall, saying nothing. How many people do you expect to meet? How many people will remember your name, or what you do?
How much longer do you think you can live off past successs?
