I'd like to entitle this photo "Wednesday night hustle" behind the scenes edition. Turns out you shouldn't boycott your MacBook updates for 7 years (give or take) and avoid practicing your video editing skills, and then expect YouTube miracles to happen. 12 how-to tutorials later, I'm just about there. Operation: don't let perfect be the enemy of done starts once again. Hitting share on Wednesday next week and I'm putting it out there so y'all can guilt me into meeting my hypothetical deadline. Insert quote about the only failure being in never trying.
To those amigos needing a pep talk to book the flight, or have the hard conversation, I've got your back. I get it, starting is THE WORST, realizing you're not quite where you want to be is a rude awakening (apparently I don't just have innate academy award winning editing skills, darn it), and change can be gosh darn terrifying. I'm learning that life screws up even when you're taking the safe route, so here's my Wednesday night pump up speech to remind us all there's an innate reward in taking a risk, even a wee one. As a wise friend @moniquemarvez once told me, if you run through an open door fast enough, you'll always have enough momentum to pull a u-turn and head back out if it just isn't for you. Note: today marks 14 months of procrastination, avoidance, and generally just making excuses coming to an end, all because a good pal called me out on my BS. (Trust me, I'm creative, so there's been a plethora of excuses...) The laptop hasn't caught on fire yet though so I've officially run out of reasons. The video is not quite done, it's certainly not perfect (insert epic struggle of the creative process here), but the small victory of the day was simply starting and I'm so thankful that I did. #peptalk #masterfulhustle #fakeittillyamakeit #betterthanyesterday #professionalprocrastinator
