Today I'm showcasing the work of Anne Bentley as part of our Lilla's Art Menagerie. Anne loves to do portraiture which she does so well because she homes in on the elements of the face that most exude the likeness of the character. Here, it's the eyes, headshape and the distinctive bob of 60's mod British fashion designer, icon and genius Mary Quant. Then, Anne goes in for the kill on the decorative elements that help tell the story of the individual. In this case, it's the mod plaid shirt and pop art florals.
Stay tuned later today for Anne's piece on the pets of President Calvin Coolidge.
In case you're not familiar with our Menagerie, here you go: Over the next several days, I'm going to reveal some of the magnificent pieces that our artists have created for our Annual Lilla's Art Menagerie which went live last week. My artists have created over 200 pieces of new work that are now available to art directors in a password-protected gallery. In a way, it's sort of like a trade show of our own where art directors can see lots of brand new work but in the comfort of their laptop.
