—People asked her why she used to draw old things - she answered: “when I draw old things, they live a little longer.” Perhaps this is what the basis of all her work entails : the desire to be connected to what disappears, the nostalgia for what already belongs to the past. Do tempo em que éramos ao sol tells the story of summer holidays, landscapes, friendships and passions, based on a collection of private Portuguese photography archives from the 1920s to the 1960s. It is a journey between memory and imagination, distant memories from which only fragments remain and whose voids are filled with images. Above all it is a work where drawings serve as a tool to look back, seeking comfort and answers of the past. And it is in this memory-drawing relationship, not knowing which of these is responsible, that one is finally able to return home.
