Peter Parker comes swinging back into theaters for the kickoff of his third separate movie franchise in the last 15 years. Spidey is not just prolific in his film career, but he has also appeared in over 2000 comic books since his inception in 1962 and is one of the world's most popular and recognizable superheroes. While much has been made about there being three reboots to the series, this whole body switching thing is actually nothing new for Spider-Man.
While much is made of Captain America's death during the events of Civil War, did you know Spider-Man also kicked the bucket back in 2012? Dr. Octopus Freaky Friday'd his way into Spider-Man's body then killed Doc Ock's old flesh pile that was now inhabited by Peter. Octopus would take up the Spider-Man mantle for a couple years until Peter's consciousness that lived on inside of his body finally wormed its way back into control, kicking Octavius's consciousness to the curb and taking control once again of his Spider-body. Comics are weird, yo. Hopefully Marvel leaves out that particular 13 Going On 30 storyline and just delivers a brand new, awesome Spider-Man experience in Homecoming.
