In case you want some ice cream on this holiday weekend, here is my Raspberry Coconut Ice Cream recipe!

2 packages frozen raspberries

2 tablespoons dark maple syrup

1 teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom

1/3 cup coconut cream

Food sensitivities cause inflammation in our bodies, and that varies from person to person. Often we only need to make one little tweak to our diet to feel much better, have more energy and stabilize our weight.
For anyone struggling with on-going health issues, we recommend a six week “elimination” diet to find out if a particular food is at the root of our problem. This approach calls for avoiding the foods that most commonly cause sensitivity problems for a period of time and then reintroducing them one at a time.

I've lived in DC for nearly 10 years and have passed this restaurant a million times, and today's meal made me regret that. This restaurant has many great inexpensive options. Plants that are grown in the wild have strong defense mechanisms. Over time, we have adapted to use these compounds in plants to help us function better. And what's fascinating is that plants grown in a protected environment are not resilient and don't have a lot of stress defense mechanisms. So when you look at industrially grown plants that are hybridized versus organic plants versus wild plants - the wild ones are the most stressed and the most dense in phytochemicals. When you eat wild plants, you ingest their ability to defend against stress. Isn't that incredible?
