Should the Cavaliers fire Tyron Lue and hire Mark Jackson?
Personally, I’m not sure if Lue is really a good coach, and I think Jackson would be a good fit there.
Remember, LeBron wanted Jackson to be the Cavs coach back in 2014 when he re-signed with Cleveland, Jackson was LeBron’s first option.
When Jackson took over the Warriors had the 26th best Defensive Rating in the NBA. And his first season with the Warriors (11-12) was the year Curry was hurt and the Warriors were just bad that year. But Jackson being a defensive minded coach, improved the Warriors defense a lot over the next 2 seasons. In the 12-13 season they had the 14th best defensive rating in the NBA. And then in the 13-14 season, they had the 4TH BEST DEFENSIVE RATING in the NBA. In 2 seasons, Jackson brought the Warriors from one of the worst defenses in the league to a Top 5 Defense in the league. And now whenever you ask Steve Kerr about the Warriors amazing defense, he always credits Jackson for implementing the defense, Ker didn’t do that.
And that’s what I think Jackson could do with the Cavs. Just like how the Warriors keep some of Jackson’s defensive strategies, the Cavs already have a great offense with the best NBA Player in the league in their team. But their defense is really, REALLY bad. If Jackson went to Cleveland and did the same things there as he did with the Warriors, I think it would improve the Cavs tremendously!
