6 months ago a friend talked me into running a marathon. It would be fun, she said😉😂 It's the "people's Marathon"- think of the Marines in your family! (Haha kidding, idk if she ever said all that) but I'm gonna tease her anyway.😙 6 months ago, the last time I did any kind of running was in highchool, even then I walked. 🙈
6 months ago I won the lottery. (That's how you get in for newbies like me) 🏆
6 months ago I started training. I had to first learn how to run a mile, then 3. The furthest I've run is 20.
The Marine Corps Marathon is 26.2 miles, dodging in and out of DC, the monuments and 30,000+ people.
These are the people that I told first.
My Grandfather MGySgt Robert Baldwin
My father Msgt Mark Graham
My Stepdad Chief Warrant Officer2 Aaron Beede
And my husband Ssgt Brian Rowl .
(Not in that order 😉) .
Because these are the people who a part of me is doing this for. These men are true heros, they have not only supported me, but So many others. They have always gone above and beyond. They have come to my rescue So many times. (Remember my graduation, Brian! 😉😉) They are the real role models, men who have had hard days, rough nights and still stand strong. Men who have faced incredible odds and grown and changed to become the leaders they are today. These men helped shape me into the woman I am today.
I am running this race for me, but also for them.
