♡ July 10th 1962 • Marilyn photographed by Bert Stern at the Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles in Bungalow 96, 1962.
In 1962 Bert Stern was hired by Vogue to shoot a series of photos of Marilyn.
The photos would be named "The Last Sitting" even though, it in fact was not her last professional photoshoot.
Bert's photographs have remained controversial for decades for multiple reasons.
He admitted to giving her many alcoholic beverages to get her more willing to pose nude and he also published photos Marilyn had not checked, even though it was widely known that when Marilyn did a photoshoot she always checked her photos, and crossed off the ones she did not like.
In an interview shortly before his death he recalled Marilyn was always his favorite out of all the people he worked with.

In 1952, reporter Mel Heimer criticized Marilyn in his column, regarding when she did not show up to his interview and he instead had to interview her through the door of her hotel room. The following month, Heimer interviewed Ava Gardner, who had read his column. Ava, however, ultimately ended up speaking in Marilyn's defense.

"On the surface, she was still a happy girl. But those who criticized her never saw her as I did, crying like a baby because she often felt herself so inadequate." - William Travilla, costume designer. // Marilyn and Jane Russell behind the scenes of 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes', 1953. Methamphetamines is an early draft of Old Money recorded in 2006. I added the Old Money instrumental because the original draft does not have background music. Hope you like it! The lyrics can be found in the comments.

"She was a poet on a street corner trying to recite to a crowd pulling at her clothes." - Arthur Miller // Marilyn photographed by Philippe Halsman in her apartment, 1952. ♥️
