A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl who has campaigned for #cleanwater in #Flint, #Michigan, amid lengthy #watercrisis, has announced her bid for #president in 2044.

#AmariyannaCopeny, who won the title of ‘#LittleMissFlint’ after she wrote a letter to then president #BarackObama convincing him to visit her hometown while it was undergoing a contaminated water crisis, announced her plans to become the first woman to hold the country’s top position on Twitter. “I guess its official, i announced my bid for President 2044 at the ‪#DNCForum‬ ‪#FutureForum‬ ‪#FuturePresident‬ ‪#Mari2044,” she wrote.‬ ‪Amariyanna has criticised current ‬#PresidentTrump for breaking his promise to address the same issue. “President Trump also came to Flint. I met him,” Copeny said after commending Obama for visiting Flint. “[Trump] was not so very nice to me at all.” She said President Trump didn’t let her ask any questions during his visit. She then criticised the President for not addressing the water crisis in Flint since taking office. “On the campaign trail, he promised he would fix Flint,” she said. “Unfortunately, this was one promise that he failed to keep, just like his promise to make America great again.” Flint faced a drinking water emergency after city officials belatedly confirmed in 2015 that the water supply was contaminated with lead and had poisoned local children.

In January 2017, officials announced that the water supply no longer exceeded the federal lead limit, but it is still not considered safe to drink.

In March, the Environmental Protection Agency awarded Michigan $100 million to upgrade Flint’s water infrastructure, using funds Congress approved under Obama, according to CNN.

She wrote in a separate tweet: “It’s OK, President Obama, I got this in 2044…I’m gonna be the first girl president.” #foodforthought #blackwomenrock #blackisbeautiful #blackessence #blackgirlsrock #blackgirlmagic #rbg #problack

We need more young people engaged in local groups like UKAN, not less. In order to achieve this vision, we have to put an end to all forms of bullying and harassment of children and teens for being vocal and active. Repost from @lina_the_cat (Note- @lina_the_cat is my personal account. I manage this account on behalf of all of UKAN. This is a personal opinion/observation. I saw this post from @womensmarch and wrote this earlier and wanted to share it with UKAN.) Feel free to share comments/feelings/notes.

No one, especially a child, should be harassed online for speaking their truth. She is incredible (look her up!!) and deserves a world that celebrates her, one so much better than this. Help create this world for all children to be empowered and vocal and awesome!!! Uplift the youth!! Be kind to the kids in your life, mentor them, encourage them to love to read and learn and create!! Listen to them without patronization!! Set good examples!! Volunteer! As someone who has a lot of experience working with young kids, I wholeheartedly place all my hope in them. Being around them makes me feel better about our chances of changing things; I've seen collaboration, positivity, and openness on a micro level that I think can be replicated everywhere. They are, (and we are), learning and growing and are bottomless in our capacities for world-changing. I always #standwithmari

Repost from @womensmarch- Our youngest youth ambassador, 9-year-old Mari Copeny (aka Little Miss Flint), is experiencing harassment and cyber-bullying because she speaks truth to power, and because she is a Black girl in a world that devalues Blackness and devalues girls. But we've got her back. Show support for Mari using the hashtag #ImWithMari! (📷 via @teenvogue)

Behind the fence is a handmade poster, which reads "We will not be silenced." #mari2044 #littlemissflint #maricopeny #activism #ukan #yesukan #supportyouth #endcyberbullying #flint

It took me some time to find the words to describe how I feel about this, I haven't found any yet.
No matter how hard I try to process the fact that this is really happening...again, I remember that the President of the United States commends this behavior. I keep asking myself 'how?', 'this can't be happening again.' So I sat, in class, thinking, about it and the thoughts never left my mind. This is the type of conversation that makes me sick to my stomach . I sat there and cried. Black children are being treated as if they are disposable which they are NOT. There's so much wrong with the society, I feel as though if you haven't stopped and cried about it... have you really processed what's going on? This was (Another) innocent AFRICAN AMERICAN CHILD who was SHOT DOWN. The 83rd black person killed by a police officer/ 331st person to be killed by law enforcement in the U.S. My heart aches for this family; not only because his death is unjust but because people think that we can solve this with a prayer hand emoji & broken heart. I wish I could find the words to make sense of what's happening but I can't, no yet . Because this shouldn't be happening Again - At All - Ever! History is eager to repeat itself and we can't stand to be victims to the past. I refuse to let what our ancestors fought/stood/protested for just go as unrecognized as another hashtag. I promise to myself to never lose the will to fight for what is rightfully ours and what we so impartially deserve.✊🏽#blacklivesmatter #jordanedwards #Mari2044
being black is NOT A crime.

Team #mari2044 is strong 🙌🏽😍
