Superman: The Movie (1978) 🎞
I feel like in preparation for Justice League, I want to review some DC-related movies. Both live-action and animated.
So before there was any setting up universes and pitting a bulls**t fight between the Supes and Batman, they made Superman's one movie that stood out.
I've watched this three times, and I still love what they've done.
Christopher Reeve was one of the best to me, but I'll give him the respect he needs, R.I.P. Christopher Reeve (1952-2004), a legendary actor to play a superhero, next to Tobey Maguire, Robert Downey, Jr., and Hugh Jackman.
When his father Jor-El sends his son Kal-El to Earth, Kal-El is adopted by the Kents and they call him Clark.
Years later, billionaire Lex Luthor plans a scheme that could wipe out the Western side of the United States.
Superman is probably one of my favourite superheroes in DC, I do have a soft spot for DC, when Superman is Clark Kent, he's kind of like me, he's awkward and has a way of caring for those around him.
When he's Superman, he can take off those glasses and suit up to save the day for somebody while the Daily Planet writes articles about him.
Superman is a perfect name for him, he defines the magnificent, despite being a full-on impervious dude, Superman just wants to be normal. I get that he's really powerful, but don't all people want to be more powerful than a military tank.
I would kill to go flying in skies and be more invincible than a bullet. How cool would that be.
I get that Superman isn't interesting, but look at the other sides of him. We all know his only weakness is kryptonite, which is what he fears most.
This is a great movie, I like how they made Superman pretty cool and interesting.
But what I can't stand is the controversial production in this movie. Warner Bros. really went through a lot of things for Superman and I hate how they just pressurized everything in the making. That's pretty much my main problem with DC, they rewrite scripts and make up stories that should adapt some stories in the comics.
I mean just knock it the hell off! Make up your minds already on what story you want.
