When I started coaching and was told personal development was priority number ☝🏼 I rolled my eyes. I thought It was for self help weirdos and wasn't looking for anything like that. But I gave it a chance. .
You guys, personal development has changed my life. .
It's stretched me and grown me.
It's improved my communication.
It's allowed me break past barriers I let hold me back.
It's made me more gracious and understanding.
It's changed the FUTURE wife and mom I will be.
It's changed the CURRENT daughter, sister, friend and HUMAN that I am.
It's given me to the tools to press into tough situations, have hard conversations and come out stronger on the other side. .
It's invaluable. I have about a zillion and a half book recommendations I could give but I feel compelled the share one with you tonight. .
If you know of Brene Brown, you know she is GAME CHANGER🙌🏼. .
Her new book "Braving The Wilderness" came out last week and I BEG every single one of you to read it. The physical book is available everywhere and it's already on audible as well. PLEASE read this book you guys. .
One of my favorite lines - - "People are hard to hate close up. Move in." .
The world feels ugly and divisive right now. .
It feels dark and discouraging. .
There's bitterness and anger and a lack of willingness to listen. .
We're all hurting. .
All of her work deals with vulnerability and whole heartedness, but the first half of this book that I've listened to so far just shook me to my core. It's challenged me to listen. And I truly believe that the world will be a better place if we can all learn to do that a bit better. To be GRACIOUS about our assumptions of other people's intentions. To step outside our own pain to feel the pain of others. To find healing in our shared humanity. To practice TRUE empathy. We have the power to do such good here. .
I'm being challenged but I'm also being encouraged by this book and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. Check it out. ❤️. .
