Btw-avoid saccharin, sucralose, & aspartame at all costs. These are the artificial sweeteners that make up the poison rainbow at your table at restaurants. They are also in sugar free boxed or pre-prepared foods & nearly all diet sodas. . 🙊❌A study published in Nature in 2014 showed that mice fed sugar substitutes absorbed more energy from their food & turned it to fat, contributing to impaired glucose tolerance (think the beginning of diabetes). Isn't this what they're supposed to be preventing? 🤷🏻♀️. This happened bc the sweeteners aren’t digested & therefore pass directly to the intestines, impacting the millions of invisible bacteria that live in our gut. Yes they are changing our Microbiome-or gut bacteria. Remember that Microbiome bacteria 🐛are largely responsible for our moods, immunity, & cravings! ❌.
Moreover, when the researchers gave 7 people who didn’t normally use artificial sweeteners the sugar substitutes for 7 days, about 1/2 of the people showed higher blood glucose levels after just 4 days! 😱
So it seems animals & humans may be impacted similarly by artificial sweeteners. In the study, the mice were given antibiotics to wipe out their gut bacteria to show that they could repopulate with beneficial bacteria after sweetener ingestion.
