I am extremely pleased to announce that we were able to adopt the Conservation Land Tax Credit Amendment #270 as part of the #FY18Budget that passed yesterday. The CLTC is a great step towards ensuring that #Massachusetts land remains #EnvironmentallyProtected.
The CLTC has incentivized citizens of the #Commonwealth to permanently protect 12,605 acres. This includes working forests, working farms, natural goods/services (water quality protection), and land hosting habitat for rare species. This means that every $1 of state tax credits has generated a return of $4.79 worth of private land donated.
As Richard K. Hubbard, Executive Director of the @fltrust and President of the Massachusetts Land Trust Coalition commented, “The Conservation Land Tax Credit has become a very important and effective tool in the land conservation tool box. It has leveraged the conservation of millions of dollars’ worth of land across the state by providing an additional incentive to landowners to donate their land or conservation restrictions to nonprofit and state land conservation organizations. With dozens of landowners waiting in line to receive the tax credit, FLT and MLTC couldn’t be more pleased with Representative Kulik’s leadership to expand the program.” I also want to thank Representative Brad Jones for filing this amendment, and helping to champion the state’s conservation programs.
