today is international day of the girl and in honor of such an occasion i compiled photos and videos of some of the most influential and inspiring women in my life❤ being different shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and socioeconomic categories, these women break down barriers everyday in their own respect, whether it be expressing ones own sexuality to show others being comfortable with your body isn't shameful and spreading body postivity, advocating for womens rights world wide, or simply telling other girls it is okay to be themselves wholeheartedly; i gain perspective from them each time i am fortunate enough to happen upon their content on social media. it is so easy to be kind and it is so easy to love and lift each other up. so today, tomorrow and everyday support the women around you!💙 thank your mother, sister, best girlfriend, whoever for being brave enough to be a strong woman in this political climate. i love you all and remember you can always reach out to me!💛 be relentlessly you!!! #idg2017 #internationaldayofthegirl @girlupcampaign @theashleygraham @uzoaduba #malalayousafzai @glamourmag

Isn't this amazing. So many amazing women are out there inspiring us each day , I am happy to be living in a time where women are changing the world and taking big steps and becoming leaders. And #malalayousafzai is one such example in front of us.

It’s not a motto- it’s a lifestyle 💪🏼💪🏽💪🏾. “We cannot succeed when half of us are held back. We call upon our sisters around the world to be brave, to embrace the strength within themselves and realize their full potential”- Malala Yousafzai

We were recently listening to Sheryl Sandberg and Malala Yousafzai talk about resiliency during adversity. It isn't a matter of if, but a matter of when we are each going to go through tough experiences in our lives.
And body image is so intricately tied with how we live our lives -whether we feel anxious, worthless, uncomfortable, or like hiding.
So often we can ask the question, "Is there anything I can do?" when we know someone is having a tough day. And while this is meant with good intention, as Sheryl Sandberg says: "the problem is that kind of shifts the burden to the person you're offering the help to to figure out what they need. And when I was on the other side of that question, I didn't know how to answer it." So, her sage advice, instead of offering to do something - just do anything. Just show up.
Ask what type of tea they want - then bring it to them.
Say "I'm calling you (instead of, "should I call you?")
Write a note about 3 things you like about the person and deliver it to them.
If you can't see them in person, FaceTime or Skype.

When we help carry each other pain, we don't feel so isolated and alone. And when we are feeling connected, we become more resilient in body image concerns and all areas of life. Is there a person in your life you can "show-up" for?

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman” -Virginia Woolf

What famous women have you seen left out of history?
All too often, history erases women from their important roles in… well, making history. These are just some of the quotes that often get attributed as “anonymous.”
List of quotes included: “Don’t let the hand you hold hold you down.” -Julia de Burgos .... “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement." -Helen Keller .... “When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.” -Malala Yousafzai .... “Knowing what must be done does away with fear.” -Rosa Parks .... “Take criticism seriously, but not personally. If there is truth or merit in the criticism, try to learn from it. Otherwise, let it roll right off you.” -Hillary Clinton .... “When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak.” -Audre Lorde

“One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change de world.” Strengh, power and courage were born.” “We realize the importance of our voice when we are silenced.” “We cannot all succed when half of us are held back.” (Continua nos comentários)
