With the adversity our country has faced both past and most apparently presently, we have to support our communities and bring awareness for one another.
For this special edition of @TearAwayWalls we were given the opportunity to collaborate with survivors of the Pulse tragedy, in addition to Orlando community activists.
Kate and Axel (survivors) as well as Blue Star were so generous to share their experiences with how they overcame and have worked to strengthen a wounded community in a time of crisis. We are very thankful to have been able to be a part of their healing through art.
The creators of the project, as allies and members of the queer community, were in shock that a space of refuge where people could finally be themselves around like-minded spirits and supportive friends was attacked. With TearAwayWalls we wanted to not only hear the stories that are being told by people associated with the tragedy, but also capture and convey what remnant energy may still be attached to them personally. We hope this project inspires love and support to the community of Orlando.
