Currently On My Nightstand... Finishing Present Over Prefect was kind of a catalyst for me. The past two years I've felt like I was always working; be it @megowenevents work, mom and wife work, then Senegence work, etc. and I felt like when I sat down to do "nothing" I was wasting the opportunity to get something done in any of these categories. I try to use any and all babysitting we receive responsibly (example: last time my amazing MIL offered to watch Maddox overnight just because.. I painted the whole kitchen 😳). Basically I try to maximize any baby-watched time and have in turn, bowed down at the altar of productivity. When I wasn't performing at max capacity (read: getting 💩 done) I was so down on my self for wasting time (and yet, there was always time to watch Friends re-runs from the 10:00-11:00 time slot.) I love to read because I love to know things but my personal development tank was sucking wind because I hadn't filled it with anything new, interesting, thought provoking or even just a fun brain vacation. My word for 2017 was "growth" and I meant that in the sense of everything: spiritually, business wise, grownup-ness and general keeper of this house-ness and the year's not over yet so I'm not waiting until the 1st of the year, 1st of the month, tomorrow, etc. I can change my daily schedule right now. For the past three weeks I've been consistently up before Maddox (during the weekdays, which is a major mom and Meagan win considering I am no morning person) to do my quiet time and it has revolutionized my days, truly. So I'm wondering if the same effect can be had before bed: using a book as a brain buffer from the crazy day, to sleep. (I actually just blew through Magnolia Story and am somewhere in the middle of Mess and Moxie/Grace Based Parenting/MS Weddings) I apparently am drawn to a common thread: "dream big dreams, work for them and make them happen, find rest and grace along the way and keep forging ahead, you got this." I've got so many more on my list (this is a hodge podge of marriage, parenting, uplifting spiritual development, memoir, hisotory & research/inspiration... gangs all here!
What's on your list?
