Towards the end of my pregnancy with Lake, I started to get muscle cramps in my legs. If you’ve ever experienced this- you know that when it happens in the middle of the night, it’s the worst, most horrible, frightening and painful experience EVER. And the pain can persist for days after while the muscle recovers from the intense spasms. I’m determined not to have a repeat of this awful experience so I started taking magnesium supplements even before the second pregnancy. Magnesium is not always easily absorbed through the gut however so I’m taking it in various forms- this liquid one that you hold under your tongue before swallowing and also magnesium bath salts that I’m using to soak my feet in. Also important to get enough Vitamin D to help the absorption so I’m taking that as a supplement and of course spending as much time outdoors as possible (lots of skin exposed for the sunshine). Oh and keeping hydrated is mega important too, which is my biggest downfall.
On a different (or not so different) note- my nails have never been stronger! Lake says ‘mummy has monster’s nails’ because that’s what I call hers when they require a trim (I touch her nails and cry ‘ouch’, she doesn’t like hurting anyone so gives in to me trimming them immediately, otherwise she can make me chase her around for weeks 😆)
