Received this card from The Magicienne last night, Belinda Sinclair, during a beautiful intimate parlor magic performance. She did a masterful trick where she had me sign the card and then she took her own chosen card and held it up to the light and before our eyes, it changed into my card, the Ace. But I actually remember two things much better than the trick:
1. She looked very deep in my eyes, and seemed to pull out something that she appreciated. She told me that we are beginning a correspondence, that we would be friends, and I surprised myself by thinking that it wasn't just a cynical performance trick, that it was true. (Time will tell...) 2. She explained that in the history of playing cards, Aces represent the explorers who go out and find the limits of the world and come back to tell the court. They have a value of one because they are self-contained. I felt oddly proud that I had drawn the ace of hearts, as I like to imagine myself exploring the limits of love.
Later still, the Magicienne stood before us while folding a rose from white paper. She asked us about our dreams and we shared them -- all of us had become comfortable enough to share some pretty deep dreams. Then she dropped the rose and as it fell, it caught fire. We all gasped at the sudden puff of flame and then saw that within her hands, we was holding a live white rose, which she presented to @serenamay with a smile.
