Meet Julio, our Sew Team Captain, and expert sewer on all machines. As the Sew Team Captain he distributes the cut fabric pieces to all the proper sewers in the correct order for the various styles to be assembled correctly (any given month we are sewing 120-180 different styles) he also sews the most technical styles. Julio Grew up in Huehuetenango, Guatemala where he learned sewing working at a pants factory. In 1994 at the age of 22 he was forced to flee his home due to the violence from the civil war that was happening literally at his front door. With their lives in danger he and his brother traveled by land over Mexico, by bus, train, car and much walking to make it to America. Julio has been with Groceries for 6 years and his loyal and proficient work has earned him many raises and promotions. Before working for GROCERIES he worked for many other factories in LA where he said the sewers were treated more like Machinery than people! With Julio's help we have maintained a great sewing atmosphere and consistent group on the sew team, we have also instituted daily stretching/yoga sessions and monthly fiestas. If you have a piece of @groceriesapparel in your closet it has gone through Julio's hands! - Thank You Julio - GROCERIES is a fashion Revolution all year round, next time you are in LA please come see for yourself and meet Julio!
