40g pitted Medjool dates
100g chopped apples
1/3 cup nonfat, plain Greek yogurt

Losing weight can be hard. It's even harder when you eat out. Here @justget.fit shows how restaurant food can have a lot of "hidden" calories. The oils, sauces and seasonings produce more calorie dense foods with a higher fat content and sodium level than what you cook at home.

When possible I like to cook as many of my own meals as possible. The result is a lot more volume and nutrients in my diet.

Pb2, pecans, 1 whole medium avocado and 6 corn thins.

Chipotle is delicious but if you are trying to lose weight, eating that is unlikely to keep you full all day.

People often associate the looks 😎 and prices 💵 of a brand with the quality of their products. What they don't realize is more often than not the brands rely on their names to sell them crap 💩

A person drives 🚘 to Starbucks to get their morning coffee ☕️ and order a sandwich 🍔 for breakfast thinking 💭 "this is not the best choice possible but it's definitely not the worst" 💁. That same person would cringe at the idea of ordering a McMuffin from McDonald's because it's "so unhealthy", not knowing the McMuffin actually has less ⬇️ calories and more ⬆️ protein.

The point here is not to say McDonald's is better than Starbucks or that the McMuffin is healthy: both sandwiches are loaded with fat and there are far better options for your breakfast. The point is people often spend their hard earned money 💸 and restrict themselves with not eating what they REALLY want due to the blanket aura behind Starbucks being "healthy" and McDonalds being "disgustingly unhealthy".

Keep your eyes 👀 open and do your research 🔍, the coolest 💁 and more expensive 💸 choice is not 🚫 always the best one.

Two ✌🏻breakfasts with the same amount of calories but completely different macros. Which one is best? My answer? Neither. 🚫
.
🚩Red flags on the left ⬅️:
① Smoothie🍦: usually made with more than 1 piece of fruit 🍓🍌 which means lots of sugar = calories. Some places also add extra sugar for taste, so be careful with those.
② Maple 🍁: although it is a "natural" syrup, it's still packed with - you guessed again - more sugar. That brings the total carb count of that breakfast to 117g!!! 😱

🚩Red flags on the right ➡️:
① Deep fried hash 🍟: potatoes 🥔 are an excellent source of carbs, but when you deep fry it = oil = A LOT of calories.
② Hidden 🕵🏼‍♀️ calories in the sandwich: there's a reason why fast food tastes so good. Not only the meat is filled with preservatives and flavoring, but they add butter = flavor to EVERYTHING. Both of those slices of bread 🍞 are toasted with butter + butter in the egg + butter in the bacon 🥓. Butter = calories. This brings the total fat count of this meal to almost 30g. That is A LOT!
. My suggestion? Order the oatmeal with maple on the side + a plain black coffee ☕️. If you need some flavor, ask for the sugar free syrup!

I'm not ☝🏻 saying you shouldn't drink fruit smoothies. I'm not ☝🏻 saying you shouldn't eat hash browns. I'm also not ☝🏻saying you should eat at McDonald's. I'm saying you should eat the one you like, or not eat any, but make sure it fits YOUR 👊🏻 diet and it's bringing you closer to your goals.

It's Christmas next week!!!!🎄
I literally have everything crossed for a white Christmas up North🤞🏻
And last night, Matt and I had our first Christmas Dinner to celebrate moving into our first home, just us two! I tell you, those pigs, brussels and parsnips were just spot on👌🏻
And yes, I have woken up this morning a whole kg heavier. But have I put in a kg of fat? No. That is, quite frankly, weight of food in my belly. This will be gone by tomorrow and my weight will be back to normal.
Moral of the story? Overeating ONCE won't make you gain fat, overeating numerous times throughout the week, every week, will make you gain body fat. You may end up eating back your net calorie deficit, so enjoy yourself over Christmas, but just be mindful 💁🏼

Breakfast was @quakeroatsuk quick oats made with courgette, @myproteinuk chocolate powder, topped with strawberries, @meridianfoods smooth peanut butter and coconut flakes 😊🍓---So I tried using protein powder in oats for the first time but I got the texture all wrong and it was super liquid. And I couldn't microwave the liquid away as it would cook the powder. I was surprised as I thought the powder will thicken rather than loosen it up. If anyone would tell me how much liquid they put in their proats I'd appreciate the help!

INGREDIENTS:
▪️1/2 cup @tryabouttime chocolate chip protein pancake mix
▪️1/4 cup pumpkin purée
.
DIRECTIONS:
1️⃣preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
2️⃣ mix together the pumpkin and pancake mix until a sticky batter forms
3️⃣spray a cookie sheet and place tablespoon size scoops of the batter on the tray. Flatten them with a greased spoon or your palm (I made 6 cookies)
4️⃣bake for about 8 minutes

So in case anyone was worried I’d moved on from my daily turkey sammy, since it hasn’t shown it’s face in a bit (and since these are the things you’d spend your worries on 😏), it’s still a 1-o-clock ritual for me. And still almost always on a giant hollowed out bolillo roll from the bakery, with the occasional exception of this elusive Franz honey chia bread you know I’m obsessed with. 😬

The thing is, as much as I like to try new things and create new recipes. There is really something to be said for finding something you love and sticking to it. I’m used to building my macros around it so I always know it fits....and I still build it on the scale but my eyeballed measurements are almost always right so I just log “my Turkey sub” that I’ve got saved in “my meals”... that way I can log it ahead or later .. whenever I’ve got a date with my phone. 💏 Those shortcuts are everything. If my tomatoes are ten grams off—— I don’t even change it cuz I’m a free spirit like that. 💃🏼

It’s mindless and most importantly I KNOW it makes me feel totally full in a good middle-of-the-day-keep-me-from-eating-a-bag-of-peppermint-pretzels way. 👌🏻 And there’s nothing worse than realizing I ate the same macros in something that went down in like two and a half min. 😩

Easy meal that feels fancy? 💁🏼This turkey bolognese sauce transforms lean ground turkey and jarred marinara sauce into something that feels and tastes way more delicious. I think you should give it a go! 😉
INGREDIENTS:
1️⃣ 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2️⃣ 2 carrots, peeled, diced
3️⃣ 1 onion, diced
4️⃣ 2 celery ribs, diced
5️⃣ 2 garlic cloves, minced
6️⃣ 1 pound ground turkey, lean
7️⃣ 2 1/2 teaspoons oregano flakes
8️⃣3 cups @cucinaantica tomato basil marinara sauce
9️⃣ 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
🔟 @redmondrealsalt and pepper
DIRECTIONS:
Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion and and saute until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the carrot and celery and saute until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and sautée until fragrant. Add the turkey, oregano, and saute 1 more minute. Add the marinara sauce. Decrease the heat to medium-low and simmer gently for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend, stirring often. Stir in the basil. Season the sauce, to taste, with salt and pepper.
Serve over zucchini noodles, pasta, or rice! Sprinkle with Parmesan 🧀
