An interesting story just happened this morning.
I was swimming in my pool and I noticed a tiny brightly colored wasp had drowned in the water. To say he was 1cm long would be generous-but he had such lovely patterns I decided the wasp could be a good subject to photograph later, so I put it in the sun to dry it off a little.
After about 20 minutes, the wasp sprung back to life! I was handling it and everything, sure of myself it was dead, but it survived! So I left it there and immediately began to photograph it. .
I had finished what photos I could, when the wasp was so animated and alive I figured it would fly off at any moment, so I went to put my camera away.....but then it spread its wings, looked up to the sky....and truly died. Must’ve succumbed to the poison of the pool water.
This wasp went from most likely dead to alive then to definitely dead in a span of a half hour, and it’s final pose is so incredibly stunning I am saving it for a future macro photo shoot.
So interesting the way life works, and although this story doesn’t have a happy ending it is still fascinating to be first hand up close witness through my camera lens.
