Our first (and what will possibly be our last) visit to Machida-Shoten.
We both had the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen 🍲 and we found the broth to be much too rich for our tastes. Had to drink a lot of water after our meal to get rid of the lingering salty aftertaste in our mouths bleh 😝 .
The ajitama was also quite badly done. When I split the egg, I noticed that the sides of the yolk 🥚 had already taken on a hard boiled consistency and only the centre of the yolk was runny 😭 .
While I liked that we were given the option of customising the firmness of our noodles, I didn't enjoy the noodles at all. That's my personal bias though since I don't fancy thick yellow noodles. Would really have preferred if the ramen came with thinner noodles but yep, personal preference.
On the plus side, the ramen did come with a generous amount of chashu which had a good mix of fats and meat. Other than that, the ramen on a whole was really one of the poorer ones which I've had in a Japanese restaurant before 😐 .
Tried out this new ramen place #machidashoten over the weekend. Tastes quite authentic especially if you opt for the “japan taste” broth and noodles. Worth a shot especially since they have a 1-for-1 promo until 14 feb iirc.
