Comments: This album hurts to listen to in all the best ways. Singer/Songwriter Mount Eerie recalls on this album the recent death of his wife in the most painfully honest way possible. From the very first track "Real Death" he hardly incorporates complex rhyme schemes or instrumentation to preserve the integrity of the message of the album. The result is an album that sounds like no other I've ever heard, while keeping a cohesive emotional power throughout. He talks about seeing his wife in everything from ravens to some flowers to the sunset. He talks about his 1 year old daughter, and how he's dealing with her. He talks about how even everyday tasks like taking out the trash are painful for him. He talks about when he first fell in love with his wife. It's a very hard album to listen to all the way through without crying and it's probably the closest any artist will get to true connection to the listener through music, and it's barely music. It's him and a guitar and a couple post production synth sounds but it's beautiful. It's very rare an album can make me feel things like this one did. It's also very rare an album is immediately this perfect upon its release, but this is just that. Please take 40 minutes out of your day and just sit down and listen to this and truly appreciate it.
