2 years we’ve lived in this house and this morning we had a first. First time we got locked out. As we were leaving the house littlest handed me my keys, I said ‘Great go sit in the car’ I rushed back upstairs to get my specs, slammed the door shut (Yale lock) and got in the car where the littlest was waiting patiently.
Me: Where are the Keys?
Him: You’ve got them.
Me: No you’ve got them.
Turns out neither of us had them.
And then there was moment of panic, with littlest saying ‘what are we going to do’ and me holding my head in both hands saying ‘let me think’. All the windows were locked, because I was just that unlucky and the Eldest had the nearest set of keys and was skipping offff to school whilst ignoring my frantic phone calls.
14 missed calls later... he answered, he ran home, I got in, retrieved keys, me and littlest had a full blown row about whose fault it was, dropped eldest/littlest off at school, reversed into a bollard, got dirty looks for being 30 minutes late, applied some mascara and started teaching.
