Spent great family time over the weekend and even made a quick stop at the Luling Watermelon Thump! If you've never been you need to go. It consumes the town each year and literally has taken over its identity.
I was able to take some photo's for my @n_y_i_p project and received some great feedback. Lesson learned- don't try to force a project and keep to the story arch. Keep it simple. Look for details. Faces- look for expressions. And get in close.
You hear a lot of that preached in photography- it sinks in more when someone grades your work. While I had hoped for better marks, the critiques stung so much because I knew before I hit "submit project"- I had failed to achieve the shots I wanted. Even more knowing I could get get them too. So add to the lessons above- take your time and focus (mentally). All that being said I know I shouldn't whine about a B-. I just know I can do better ;)
